If the bandwidth goes too high...

...I'll just bandwidth-cap that particular image. So feel free. :-)

...to the recent attacks by violently protesting Muslim groups, and open chastisement by officials of the US Government over a series of political cartoons that were published in some newspapers in Denmark.

And my agreement with [livejournal.com profile] elfs and others that the political cartoons in question have no right to be quashed, any more than political cartoons such as SinFest with it's satirical depictions of God and the like have any right to be quashed.

Nice image wolfie, nice to see that you Americans aren't completely oblivious of what's going on over here :)

This has to be the saddest comment I've read all week.

The whole planet is going nucking futs and Americans just go, "Huh?" A Danish newspaper published puerile cartoons of Mohammed as a bomb-throwing maniac and now the entire Muslim world has exploded. Some of it's just absolutely absurd: protestors outside the Danish embassy in Morocco held up signs in absolute earnestness that read "Behead those who claim Islam is violent!" Nations and organizations around the planet are scrambling to either affirm the right of free speech or to distance themselves from it.

I'm with Daniel Dennett on this one:
We cannot let any group, however devout, blackmail us into silence by their expressions of hurt feelingswhenever they feel that we are getting close to the truth. That is what con artists do when their marks begin to get suspicious, and that iswhat children do when they can't have their way, and it should be beneath the dignity of any religious group to play that card.

I had heard of the Mohammad cartoons, but not that they were Danish.

This has to be the saddest comment I've read all week.
Back. Off.
You have no right to make judgements about me, just as I have no right to make judgements about you. You don't know WHY I'm ignorant, and it's certainly NOT because "I'm an American." I refuse to be labeled an "American." It's insulting and demeaning.

As least I ASKED.
