Off-duty police officer serving as a guard at a hospital tasers father carrying infant when they try to get discharged from the hospital.

Just in case you hadn't run across it yet, [livejournal.com profile] lionman referenced it and I thought I'd stick it up here for you to see, and others to know about as well.

I read the article. The officer may be average for Houston PD, but I for one am embarrassed that he has been called a "security guard" by Yahoo and other national news media.

Does the hospital have authority to hold on to the baby? You bet. Too much parental and non-parental kidnappings these days.

Regardless. You don't Taser a man holding a baby. If the darts hit the baby, who knows what would happen? I do know that a child AED delivers fewer joules.

Having the baby hit its head is dangerous and nasty enough.
