...mostly because she does a lot of digital photo-work, and having a laptop with 2GB of RAM, a 2.0Ghz CPU, and a built-in flash-memory reader will do her a lot more good than trying to upgrade her current out-of-warranty laptop.
And I don't trust using my laptop as a real lappy, it's safer to use it more as a semi-portable desktop inside a house than to take it everywhere, which is what my mom's other laptop is good for, despite the advertising used for my laptop initially.
