And in the process discovered that Linux doesn't appear to support something Windows does. Or at least I can't find a way to enable this minor but very important feature. Specifically... digital audio playback of CD's without using some kind of stupid 'link cable' between the drive and the sound card. So I have to rip a CD to even play it on my computer under Linux, oddly.
But listening to the album has proved worth the trouble of ripping and encoding the tracks. Very worth it, actually. For anyone that's heard an album by the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, you'll likely know why I love so much of this album... it's just so damn positive compared to so much of the music they want to play on the airwaves now.
But it's not 'poppy' happy, it's down-to-earth, while still being remarkably upbeat in it's outlook. Even the songs about very serious topics show the lesser-tread road, wondering about who's the real victim sometimes, and what are the real causes sometimes...
