Yeah, but that doesn't explain the Ubuntu text-mode (not graphical) installer freezing all the time for random time-periods to the point I can't navigate menus.
This is stuff DOS handled fine on my 486/33, yet Ubuntu's installer (which looks like it's still Dialog-based) barfs on my dual-core 2.5Ghz box? That's a LOTTA bloat to explain.
