...but I have an easier time getting a Tire-gasm than any other sort of car-related "Ooh! Shiny!" response.

Needless to say, the engineer, artist, and driver in my head all are drooling over the new TripleTred tires from GoodYear.

I mean... 80,000 mile treadlife? =O.o= Most tires are around 35,000 right now. And some of those 35k tires cost more than these 80k tires. And these 80k tires are quite happy on snow and everything else.

Now if they made a version rated for higher speeds, everyone could use them. As it is, anyone needing V or other high-speed tires needs to fall back on the Eagle line of tires from GoodYear, or look to other tire companies.

But good grief... 80k miles for barely $115/tire. That's like... barely $1.43 per thousand miles. Most tires I've seen elsewhere are nearly double that cost per mile. *squee* And these even look neat. :-)

Long wear tires.

I usually don't buy any tire that's less than 60k. I figure that way, I'll not have to replace my tires more than twice on the lifetime of the car, presuming you don't have any unusual tire troubles.

Yeah, but these are specifically designed to function as honest-to-goodness winter tires, rain tires, and reinforced tires. The winter part especially, with really good ice traction, on a long-wear tire for about $110/piece from TireRack, is what caught my eye, Sir. =^.^=

Most tires meant for heavy winter use that have good traction on ice do so with a fast-wearing Silica compound. These tires do it with a pumice compound, so they act like narrow winter tires, wide chevron-tread water tires, and still have a nearly run-flat reinforced sidewall. I think the fact that they rank above 9.0 in every single category on TireRack.com's averaged reviews says a lot.

So, yeah... I'll be getting me a set of 6 of these when I get tires in a month or two.

That is a pretty darn good price. I think I usually pick the high mileage tires at Costco/Sam's Club that usually run about $65/$75 each and are the 65k mile tires. Then again, I equip my tires for regular, frequent road use, not really show/rain/ice. :-)

But, I think the tire find is pretty cool.

Yeah... unfortunately my tires are an 'expensive' size for the Eclipse. The cheapest tires CostCo can get for it (and they only last 35k miles) are $140 a'piece.

Another reason why I'm sorely tempted by the TripleTred tires.

At least I'm not going to get some silly over-the-top rims with stationary dollar-signs on them though. If anything, wire wheels are much more likely for this car, to go with the 'woods' theme. =^.^=
