Though other cars on the road aren't.

Passed numerous accidents, including a 7-car both-way pile-up involving vehicles, overpass support pillars, and at least one vehicle that tumbled apart like tin-foil across a farmer's field, and that's just what I spotted as I drove through. If I hadn't stopped for gas, I might have been involved in said accident.

As it was, I ended up dodging someone else spinning out, and eating muddy median for several hundred feet sideways, but the Yaris didn't even begin to tip over, for which I'm thankful. No damage but a lot of mud, took it to a heated car-wash, looks fine still.

But yeesh... I just hope I can make it to work later today. =-.-=

More people need to invest in good tires down here, but I get the feeling that'll get weeded out very quickly this weekend at least.

The Drive In...

I passed 2 roll-overs, I-70 was down to 1-lane in 2 places, and a guy who had tried to wrap his Mustang around a light-pole before I'd gotten 3 exits down the road. Which is where I turned around and came home, called the customer to tell them their hardware upgrade would have to wait. We'll do the software remotely.

Yeah... I called work and told em, in about as many words, "Sorry, the roads are bad enough I don't feel safe coming in today. I'll make up the time later this week."

I haven't gotten back out either. Dad cancelled the spagetti supper tonight at church, and the first service tomorrow, as well as Sunday school. There -might- be a second service at 10:45a.

Sliding sideways towards oncoming traffic for eight seconds or so and knowing you basically have no further control of the situation brands that into your brain in very short order. I kept enough control of my sanity instead of the car to back up once I came to a stop, turn the right way, and get the hell outta the median immediately before anyone else spun out and nailed me that way though.

I was going 25mph on the interstate here, and slowed down when I realized that was still faster than surrounding traffic. A cop with full lights-and-sirens was only going about 25-30mph shortly after that. =-.-=

But if this is the local weather... good grief, this year's gonna be nasty it looks like.

Now I'm tempted to be a little unsafe, but not in a vehicle, just to get a bite. =^.-=

And yes, come hell or high water, I'll be at FC, hon.

I don't want to have to attend your funeral.

Slow down and take it easy! Your reflexes are superb but if you don't alllow for the errors of others, someday you will get killed by someone else's stupid mistake.

Not the first time I've posted a comment like this after a (near or actual) accident you've been involved in.

Be safe and be well.

I am going slow...

...only 20-25mph on the interstate in fact.

The median-surfing was when I was stopping for a state-road-stoplight (Oklahoma 169 north) and someone tried to change lanes while stopping and hit black ice so they spun in front of me while going slower than I was. (They stopped medium-early and hard, I was stopping way early, and slowly.)

Simple dodge to glide to one side turned into going sideways from the far-left lane into the median for a'while and never really sinking into the mud because the Yaris is so light, and the mud was pretty icy once you got down an inch or two.

OY!... luckily you could stay out of more "trouble" and you and the car are still alive. I was in two car accidents yet, one really heavy one.. and I know, it's rather deep going -__-

I'm glad too.

And I'm being a LOT more paranoid about picking roads with dirt on the sides instead of concrete barriers everywhere after that near-miss. If it'd been the later, my little silver jellybean would have been smooshed. =-.-=
