My little character-editor isn't so little anymore, handling:

  • All the 'officially playable' races from:
    • Players Handbook #1
    • Monster Manual #1
  • All the 'player' classes from the Players Handbook #1
  • Skills and Training
  • Attribute Bonuses from levelling up
  • Showing you your total:
    • Skill bonuses
    • Save bonuses
    • Hit Points
    • Healing Surges per day

So what should I work on adding next?

I'm specifically NOT adding a 'level up' feature, you can just change the level you're designing for non-destructively and modify options as you wish, far easier than implementing the specific 'retraining' rules that many GM's love to modify regardless.

I'm also specifically not aiming for this to be a live play-aid at this time, it's meant to speed up the initial character-creation or planning character-progression and stat changes over time. So what, on here, would make this more useful for 'sketching' out character ideas for folks?

The ability stats don't add up right.

Steps to reproduce, please? I've been checking each stage as I added it, to make sure the numbers still totalled up, so for the obvious cases it seems to work correctly still. What'd I foul up?

More specifically, do you mean the 'total cost' of the ability scores aren't being limited to 22 correctly? Or do you mean the 'ability bonuses' aren't being granted correctly? Or something else?

Not sure what ability skill start method you are using, but at level 8, I'm str 13, con 12, dex 18, int 12, wis 14, cha 16.

Skill selection still seems to be a bit wonky.

Figured out the bug...

...IE doens't handle the 'onchange' property correctly, so I had to duplicate the function-call to 'onclick' to guarantee that IE would call the updating-function at the right time. Apparently it only calls 'onchange' after you move away focus from the input after changing the value. So, checkboxes only trigger after you click on another one, when it pulls focus away from the original one. Onclick appears to get called after the state is updated though, so it catches it early enough.

Also found a glitch, somehow I had a line missing from the version on the server, so it wasn't adding in half your level to skill calculations. Fixed that too. =^.^=

Everything seems to work, but I'm not a D&D kind of guy so I can't tell if it is accurate.
