...just know that I am out of fingers on one hand for the number of times I've had a fever of 106F or higher in my life now. I was on my ass from approximately November 10th, 22:00 until today.

Needless to say, my entire GI tract was tac-nuked by that fever so I had uncontrollable diarrhea, but I ended up at the ER when I suddenly couldn't keep down plain room-temperature water and started projectile vomiting. It had passed, and I was holding fluids down and my temperature had stabilized, then suddenly *NUKE*PUKE*BLART* all at once, I pulled the big red emergency handle immediately. One unit of fluids later with a cocktail that included benadryl and some other medicines to shut down the nausea reaction, and a 'scrip for an oral anti-nausea medication, and I was home with my blood pressure stable but on the low half of average and my pulse no longer wanting to sit at 145.

Then began the next 48 hours of gulping down water, then inching back up to 7-up, then V8, then some plain boiled rice noodles, then finally some plain pasta noodles with a tablespoon of olive oil and sprinkle of parmesan and mint, and some Activa for desert, etc. Been there before, I know the drill and my preferred route. Still farting toxic purple clouds of sewer gas, but that'll take a week or so to clear unfortunately.

Was it food poisoning or the flu?

Flu. High enough fever = dead GI tract flora/fauna = perfect colonoscopy situation.

I'd also suggest yogurt and acidophilious milk to get the intestinal flora back in-whack, but that'll probably be a day or so more before you can hold it down.
