...especially when they're people I think are as nifty as [livejournal.com profile] sylvanmarten is, or as special to me as [livejournal.com profile] lionman is.

Now the trick is... I'm gonna need some help.

First things first, I need to get the okay from WotC before I could do this. Can't be a hypocrit and do things before asking, after all the time I spend preaching about asking first from Artists and Publishers. :-)

Next thing is... I'm gonna need folks to help me build, or at least draw the map and stuff for a world to build. =^.^=

And semi-tangled into that... is what should it be? A social MUD, with automated systems for helping players GM scenes and stuff, generating monsters and semi-automating the processing of them? Anyone think of something better to do it in? Or do we dig in, and pull out MUQ and use that to 'roll our own' system, tailored for what we need?

So... who wants to help? Volunteers? Anyone? *listens to crickets chirp*

Yeah, it's not doable unfortunately...

Their 'Open Gaming License' components for 'd20' specifically prohibit ANYTHING that touches Character Generation of ANY sort, or experience of ANY sort at all, without licensing the full version from them.

Which I already know costs a freakin' arm and a leg, in the range of a four to five digit number, which is cheap, but prohibitive.

If there's any way to 'make' a character from scratch, or 'improve' a character at all, I can't 'advertise' as a d20 module.

So, I'm just going to skip it entirely, and base it on d20, but not make it a d20-compatable system. Gonna natch it over to a d100 hybrid instead, and convert the character attributes over as well from a rolled value to a 'chosen' value in a wider range, that should be fine.

Then the plan is simply to think of the MM2 as the inspiration that spring-boarded you forward?

Yup. Which means I need races now! Lots and lots of races! More just the raw names and rough descriptions of same, at this point I'm going to build stats for them myself from scratch.

What I'm going to go for, is several main 'groups' of things, like giants, elves, dwarves, orcs, and gnomes. (No halflings, no hobbits, other than that, all the D&D race names are long-standing traditions elsewhere and safe to use from what my search shows.)

And it's GRYPHON not Griffin blast it!

Ah, that feels better. :-) No, I don't like the multi-i-f gryphon spellings. =-.-=

ACK!!!!!

Okay, Okay, I'll start using the Archaic usage. I'm sorry! I mean no offense.

Here, I'll grant a polymorph for wings. I always thought Displacer Beasts should have wings anyway.

And, yes, this is official notice that I have my own LJ! Yeah...

Not to terribly exciting, but yeah!
