Grr... I'm pissed off.
May. 19th, 2003 05:37 pmBasically, if you use the newer, and MUCH nicer interface (available here but don't click anything) to customize your LiveJournal accounts layout... you lose access to many, many features that, while trivial, are now paid-only features.
Yes, it's minor to not be able to customize the 'Leave a comment' text, or not being able to adjust where some stuff is positioned, or the font used... but goddess damnit it's annoying to suddenly have a very well-built, straight-forward interface for editing a journals layout... and have them disable features from all non-paid accounts if they want to use the newer interface. And it's a decision I hope they change.

Yeah, I appreciate that it's a free service. :-)
Date: 2003-05-20 01:32 pm (UTC)That is what bit me in the rump. I had to roll back a conversion to the new style system because I couldn't keep any of my existing changes except the colour scheme, which were few enough to begin with.
And as soon as I get back from BayCon, I'm buying a year or two of LJ regardless. I guess my original post was pretty poorly-worded though, you're right. It comes off as more pissy than I intended, which is probably because I made it after spending a while using the new customization interface... then having to manually re-build with all those wonky override strings again from scratch when I switched back. =-.-=
And Gah... I wish they'd get a permenant account sale again, but I'm hardly an exception I bet. :-)
