Since we've proven voters can say what they want...
...it's time to do it again, in any loud, noisy, boisterous way you all can. That is a link to Google News for any stories thay may crop up about a disgusting incident involving 'zero tolerance' drug laws, in this case in the state of Texas.
A boyfriend and girlfriend are both asmatic, both use the same inhaler, same dosage, same brand, likely picked up from the same pharmacy.
The girlfriend forgot her inhaler, and had a nasty asthma attack. The boyfriendly noticed this, that it was bad enough she was starting to turn pale. He loanded her his inhaler, which obviously solved everything while they walked to the nurses office.
Her mother had specifically given him permission to do this if/when she forgot her inhaler.
The state is claiming he 'distributed a dangerous drug' by loaning her his inhaler, because it's a prescription medicine, not an over-the-counter one. And this has triggered the states 'zero tolerance' drug laws. He is now facing mandatory expulsion, as well as a felony criminal charge in juvenile court.
Please, I know I'm not a political-minded wolf usually, but if any of you know anyone you can call about this, pass the word around as wide and far as you can. These senseless 'zero tolerance' casualties have to stop.

But then again, its Zero-tollerence heh....
better safe not to let ANY medical drugs at school, if they are worried so much!
Re: *nods*
So, he gets kicked out of school for helping his girlfriend when she had an asthma attack, and now has to fight a felony criminal case which could likely affect him for the rest of his life. Know why? Because all it will say is it was drug-related. Not that he loaned his girlfriend his inhaler when she forgot hers. It will show up the same as if he'd been dealing cocaine, or heroin, or had been passing out cans of beer and cigarettes.
This will make many, MANY jobs unavailable to him, and make many things most of us take for granted impossible for him. He wouldn't be able to ever own a firearm, some areas would disallow him from voting for certain things, he couldn't even be a security guard, most fast-food chains wouldn't hire him with a felony drug conviction on his record, etc, etc.
Basically... because he tried to help his girlfriend, perhaps even save her life (unlikely, but the high school had no asthma medicines or breathing machines on-site, and the nearest hospital wasn't close-by) he may now be effectively kicked out of our entire society, and told he's a second-class citizen with fewer rights than the rest of us.
