Hated dealing with actually piecing together your playfield and 'grinding' to earn resources initially on each level, and just wanted to Play The Damn Game and send your guys out to do various tasks?

Have Steam?

Have $5US? Yes, single-digit, five. Not a typo.

Yeah, it's easy, and shortish, but it's a blast to play for me at least.

The one tip I'll give: Rattle Chains, as a power, attracts folks to the ghost using it. It's the one bit that's not very clear in the otherwise-quite-good in-game tutorial.

Bad enough snow that a trip home from work that usually takes 15-20 minutes took... 90. Yes, an hour and a half. Even giving up 5 minutes for the guy on the side of the road we stopped for, and another 5 for the deer we had to wait for, that's still over four times as long as usual.

I was driving 10-20mph on interstates, folks. Big-rigs were pulling off to the median 'U-turn' in one place, hazards on, and just stopping for the night apparently. The only exception were the 6-tires-wide dual-axle salt-trucks pouring salt on the roads and smothering the snow out of the way to leave a clear path until the plows could get there. The plows were having all their work covered up in less than a mile after they passed.

Only bad point: It took three attempts to dig enough of a groove in the snow to make it up the initial 10-foot hill at the start of my culdesac road. First attempt... 10 feet. Second attempt... 30 feet, and a much better set of grooves to aim for the third time. Third attempt... barely crested the hill.

So, yeah... fun-as-hell drive home, IMHO. =^.^=

Room Get!

[livejournal.com profile] talesin I have a room with much empty space, and a shortage of liquid assets!
[livejournal.com profile] wolfwings I have an excess of liquid assets, and a shortage of space to sleep!

So, yeah, rooming arrangements solved. =^.^=
wolfwings: (Default)
...and I just now realize...

...I don't think I arranged a room yet. =O.o=

Upside: I have several hundred dollars in the bank, so I can easilly cover my share, or even an entire hotel-room cost this year without batting an eye.

Anyone need a roomy? I don't take up much space. =^.^=

...it's awfully akward trying to dance around the tulips when you know someone off-line that you're interacting with on-line from work, they know it, you know it, but you don't want to let the company itself know the nature of the connection. Especially when normal means of communications don't work to the individual so you have to pipe up that you have secondary communication methods. =^.^=

Took the plunge yesterday... tried to set up a dual-boot Windows/Linux for a'while, got tired of driver issues. Then realized I had a 64-bit Ubuntu DVD I picked up for free from my new job (yay for Linux geeks keeping stockpiles!) and decided to just say 'screw it' and give the automated stuff a try.

Um... wow.

City of Heroes. Almost worked out of the box, DID work fully after I manually upgraded to the latest Wine instead of the included-on-DVD version that was about 6-8 months out of date.

Steam, and Half-Life 2. Again, worked out of the box. No issues playing Team Fortress 2.

Again... wow. Holy crap. Screw dual-boot, Linux Just Works these days. =O.o=

...and I've come to a realization. The Honda Acty, that I'm pretty sure I've mentioned here before, is a very interesting vehicle that I think could very easilly replace (in van form) the niche market the first-generation Scion xB's held for a'while: Low-cost, low-power, high-efficiency little vehicles that have cargo room for days and days. If only they'd make a US-capable version and import the buggers.

I mean, seriously, mid-engines, 4WD micro-van with about 7½ inches of ground clearance? It adds functional dirt-road camping utility to what the xB could already do previously. Makes me wish I could win the lottery so I could buy 50 of them in a batch and run them through the crash-testing requirements so they can be imported legally for road-use, they're already proving popular for off-highway use to replace ATV's in their pickup-truck form.

Job get!

Though other cars on the road aren't.

Passed numerous accidents, including a 7-car both-way pile-up involving vehicles, overpass support pillars, and at least one vehicle that tumbled apart like tin-foil across a farmer's field, and that's just what I spotted as I drove through. If I hadn't stopped for gas, I might have been involved in said accident.

As it was, I ended up dodging someone else spinning out, and eating muddy median for several hundred feet sideways, but the Yaris didn't even begin to tip over, for which I'm thankful. No damage but a lot of mud, took it to a heated car-wash, looks fine still.

But yeesh... I just hope I can make it to work later today. =-.-=

Should I?

Pondering getting either this logo or this one on my car, like a bumper-sticker or something, along with a tag-line like "I'm Here To Help" split across two lines.

Dunno why, just seems appropriate.

Battle of the Beanfield

I'll post more when I have a chance to upload them, they're all stupid-high-quality versions, so they're on the order of 4-10 MB each. Turns out I now have 1.8 gigs of Levellers music, not 1.2 like I thought before. Hope nobody minds a DVD half-full of music instead of CD's? I'll need addresses! (This is why comments are screened, post yer' addy for me to punt the DVDs to here!) =^.^=

But still a very nifty band if you're a fan of things like Heather Alexander's music style but Chumbalumba's willingness to make a statement.

I can directly thank [livejournal.com profile] redstorm for turning me on to the band ages ago when I helped with the beefcat sculpture shaping, and I've finally finished downloading most of an uber-mega collection of... well... just over a gig of their songs, though most of it can fit on a single CD. Anyone out there want a copy? I'll post a couple invididual songs later today, or if you read this, [livejournal.com profile] redstorm, recommend a couple songs for me to post and I'll stick those up, since you know the band better than I do, I'm just enjoying the music. =^.^=

...but go here and comment on my suggestion to add support for Dean Edward's IE7.js script to customized journals. Ya' know how my new style breaks badly on IE6? This script single-handedly fixes it entirely. No mucking about, just magic techno-voodoo to make it all shiny again. =^.^=

Pass the link around, this would be a godsend for those of you still stuck on IE6 and even earlier versions.

...are looking up. Current plan is getting either a 2-Bedroom Apartment, or possibly a 3-Bedroom Townhouse in combination with Omega Wolf and Chaos Kitty, possibly with Cameo Nox Phyre joining us w/ space for her SO when he's not on deployment. (Yay, military furs!)

I'll have about $600/month after taxes roughly from my Metro job, w/ $400/month in car expenses roughly per month w/ payments/insurance/gas. So $200/month towards rent from Metro (my stable base job) then whatever hours/work I get from Guardsmark. Calling them today to find out what they can schedule me for, even if the pay rate sucks as long as I can scrounge the hours. I hope to get 32 hours/week from GM for now, to keep my insurance through them, and even at worst that'd give me about $700/month after taxes from them across 4 days of work. That will go almost entirely towards savings, $100 towards rent so I'll need a few hours a month from GM regardless of if they can give me a full schedule.

More realistically, I'll be without health insurance for the moment again, and work 4-5 days a week with about $200-$300 going into savings each month, with extra time popping up randomly from each of my jobs until I can wiggle Metro to full-time or find a better job than either of the above. Need to start brushing up on Red Hat so I can possibly apply to Cerner, though those hours would be hell. =-.-=
