...I repackaged the (in)famous shooter GunRoar in a much smaller download package that plays identically, and sounds pretty much identically unless you're playing on a really high-end sound system.

Base Install (390kb)
Music Pack (478kb)

Pretty cool. So, now you're a villian, huh? ;-)

It's more a choice between:

  1. Heading down into a huge swarm of enemies and beating the tar out of them in wild and chaotic ways with a group of friends and random people on the server.

  2. Spending 5 minutes running at base speed just to get to the person that gives me the mission so I can spend another 5 minutes running again to a mission that takes all of 4 minutes to defeat.

CoV had some huge design-level adjustments made, compared to CoH. There's practically zero travel-time between missions, and people that give missions are heavilly localized to the missions they give with rare but purposeful exceptions, instead of huge bouts of travel for bite-sized missions being the norm.

I honestly like the CoH classes better, but I can't stand the sheer amount of time-sink basic travelling is at the lower levels long enough to get to the levels I can travel around myself.

I think the key in CoH is to invest in the right powers to reduce travel time. But, I've watched enough CoH to understand what you mean. I actually haven't seen any CoV gameplay.

Problem is that you don't get any travel powers that actually improve your base speed noticably until Level 14.

Which takes at least twice as long to reach in CoH compared to CoV due to the travel-time involved in my experience to far.

Yeah, in World of Warcraft there's lots and lots of running, and when you get to the right level, some classes get an increased speed mode, then at level 40, hopefully you can afford to buy a mount and go a bit faster still. And when you're 60th level, hopefully you can get an Epic mount that goes a little faster still!

And, of course, many of the quests you do, tend to send you all over the game map. :-/
