Thanks, Smash!
May. 17th, 2002 03:20 pmWell... at a bit of prodding that I don't think
smashwolf will quite understand how he did... I've gotten every last trace of Microsoft OFF my machine, only CD-R's in case I need the files, and Slackware 8.0 running smoothly on the same machine.
And ya' know what? I take back ever nice thing I ever said about Windows XP. I thought it was stable. It wasn't. THIS is stable. The sheer fact I could get a BSOD on XP without working too hard should have been a clue, I was just fooling myself.
Still... pardon me while I revel in the unaddulterated speed! *bouncy*

XP vs. Unix

Date: 2002-05-18 11:22 pm (UTC)Yes, XP is wonderful... for a MicroSoft product. It's taking me a little tinkering to get the Linux system the way I like it too, but it's still... just amazing that things I was worried about doing before, wondering if my hardware was damaged, or a CPU was failing from the oddity of the BSOD's I'd get... For a random note, Quake 3 Arena would BSOD, and that's a very well-tested piece of software generally, which was making me wonder about my hardware.
No problems since switching over, and getting WineX going to run Windows stuff. >^.^<
Though I am setting aside a partition to slide DosEMU and WineX at to keep things nicely seperated out. :-)
