Well... at a bit of prodding that I don't think [livejournal.com profile] smashwolf will quite understand how he did... I've gotten every last trace of Microsoft OFF my machine, only CD-R's in case I need the files, and Slackware 8.0 running smoothly on the same machine.

And ya' know what? I take back ever nice thing I ever said about Windows XP. I thought it was stable. It wasn't. THIS is stable. The sheer fact I could get a BSOD on XP without working too hard should have been a clue, I was just fooling myself.

Still... pardon me while I revel in the unaddulterated speed! *bouncy*

And just where did you "clean burn" this CD-R from? Surely it wasn't a machine that once had a MicroSoft Product on it, was it? *gasp!* ;-)

Nope. Downloaded and burned on one of the Linux routers we buy-and-build from scratch, that we equip with CD-RW drives in case someone needs a driver for a network card we loan them or needs 1.37GB of digital pictures from a small backpack FULL of 32-128MB camera cards compiled for them. (Yes, we've had both of the above happen, the latter at regular times, though only once that HUGE a collection. :-)

That's pretty crazy.

I stand corrected.
