Welcome to the Draft in 2005, just after the election, and Sweden-style required-military-or-related service for all those 18-26 if current bills in Congress go through. And guess what? They've already enacted extra blocks between US<->Canada to make moving to Canada an invalid way to avoid being drafted.

Actually the LJ post you linked to seems to be referring to the first bill that was meant to make the military more "equal" (to put more non-minorities in the military) But there is more than one draft bill on it's way through, one of them is far more serious...

As for the "No president would ever sign the bill" argument, obviously these people have never heard of George "Dubya" Bush...

Why do you think they're waiting untill AFTER the election to put this bill through? And why has the SSS recieved so much more $ recenly?
